E-mail Print PDF
Jitterbit creates open source integration software that aims to overcome the challenges of cost and complexity associated with connecting applications, data and systems. This california based company provides very to use integration tool.

Jitterbit’s open source integration solution is a graphical platform for connecting legacy, enterprise and On-Demand applications, including Business Process Fusion, ETL, SaaS, and SOA.

Strengths of Jitterbit

  • Very easy to use: Could be used by nontechnical business analysts as well
  • Provides impact analysis for easier change management
  • A very powerful data migration tool but does not fully meet up all ETL requirements

Weaknesses of Jitterbit

  • No native drivers, no JMS support and no support for PDFs or EDI
  • Detailed access control missing, administration limited, but user access could be restricted; No folders available
  • The Jitterbit Integration Server requires that the PostgreSQL database server be installed
  • Team based development Environment is not available - multiple teams working on multiple projects could end up modifying each other’s work
  • Inter-process debugging capabilities are absent
  • Error Recovery for workflows missing
  • Add-on products like data profiling tools and data quality not available
  • Jobs for Slowly Changing Dimension would require lengthier coding
  • Monitoring is limited and not real time. Scheduled tasks not visible
  • Manually refreshed logs only, limited opportunity for intervention into stuck jobs. Not convenient for collection of runtime statistics
  • No Version control and audit trail
  • Transformations are basic but could be extended
  • Data cleansing functions limited
  • Conditional execution limited to global variables

Please note that the open source tools change and progress very rapidly and the reviews may no longer be valid at some point in time. The mentioned points are as of Jun 2009.
